From Participant to Board Member: A Personal Milestone with RDAA

Some things come full circle in the best possible way.

I’m so proud to share that I have been appointed to the Board of Riding for the Disabled Association Australia (RDAA) and I recently attended my very first board meeting. It’s safe to say it’s a moment I won’t forget.

For me, this one is personal.

One of the current RDAA directors played a direct role in my daughter’s journey — training both her and her trainer to better support her learning disability. That kind of dedicated, hands-on support made a real difference to our family, and it’ssomething I have never forgotten.

So when the opportunity arose to give back at a board level, it wasn’t a hard decision. It felt like the right next step.

RDAA is recognised by Sport Australia as the peak body for equestrian sport for people with disabilities, supporting more than 2,200 Australians living with intellectual, physical, sensory and learning disabilities each year. The work they do is quiet, consistent, and genuinely life-changing for the families involved — ours included.

I’ll be contributing as part of the Finance and Risk Committee and the Marketing and Philanthropy Committee — two areas where I hope to bring real value as the organisation continues to grow its reach and impact across Australia.

The values that drive my consulting work — people-centred leadership, building capability, creating environments where others can thrive — align closely with what RDAA does every day. This appointment feels like a natural extension of those values, in a context that means a great deal to me personally.

To the RDAA team, volunteers, and community: thank you for everything you do. It matters more than you know.
